The Evils of Brexit and its Parallels with 1930’s Nazis
There are many things wrong with society today, from rouge states like North Korea to the illegal occupation of the likes of Tibet and the Crimea. Not to mention having a borderline psychotic president heading up the most powerful country in the free world.
People in general seem more and more focused on what they alone can take for themselves. Forgetting that this will ultimately undermine the whole balance and infrastructure of our society and at best a pyrrhic victory will be the result.
Such is the case with what is happening in the UK right now, I am of course referring to that divisive evil Brexit.
Evil manifests itself in many guises and to quote a popular film of recent years, ‘The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.’
Such has been the case throughout history, where the evil at first positions themselves as standing for the popular good and then will focus on gossip and rumour, turning it into a convenient truth. Thereby enlisting the more impressionable and those who already have extreme or self-interested views.
There follows a degree of resistance from the socialists left, which is often quickly and ruthlessly put down. Meanwhile the centre ground remains silent as it does not seem to be affecting them, that is until they wake up one morning and it is too late.
We can draw parallels with how the Nazis seized power from the ‘establishment’ in the 1930’s and the marginalisation of the Catholic Church, in the lead up to World War II and how the Brexit leave campaign has been delivered.
We see the far right wing of the Conservative party and in the background the UKIP supporters, using intimidation tactics, something now wide spread amongst those who are determined to see this through to the bitter end (and believe me when I say, it will be bitter).
We have a weak centre ground on the rebound from a disastrous general election and a poorly perceived coalition. The Conservative party has been hijacked and sets about marginalising centre ground Tory MP’s, to the extent some were deselected by the PM prior to the 2017 vote. Others come under attack from wealthy donors, who try to ‘buy’ support to topple them or they partially capitulate in the belief ‘they will live to fight another day’.
Waiting coiled and ready to pounce is the modern manifestation of the devil and if he should succeed insurmountable damage will be added to that already perpetrated upon the UK.
A once green and pleasant land you might have said, but one that has for centuries seen some hold insular feelings and disproportionate sense of greatness. This assertion will ultimately lead to the break-up of the Union.
You can forget about Little Britain or even Little England for that matter, but look at the possibility of a total breakdown even within families.
The bigotry that has been bubbling under the surface, is hijacking civilised society. And in the words of the former Attorney General and respected Conservative party moderate Dominic Grieve, a very ‘unBritish revolution’ has been perpetrated.
It is not the time to be stood observing events, we must stay silent no longer. It is time for us and all decent people to rally and stop this disaster happening, to restore some degree of credibility to our nation and prevent it from backsliding into the dark ages from whence it may not fully recover.
